I met a woman the other day at the grocery store. With the holidays quickly approaching, we got on the subject of donating to different charities. “I would love to give”, she said; “but I’m a single-mother of two and I just don’t have it”. Then she went on to tell me how she would love to do charity work and teach her kids the importance of helping those less fortunate. My response to her was simple… make it happen. I told her to find out what her kids are involved in and/or enjoy doing the most, then create a fundraiser around it. “Great idea, thanks!” The conversation ended, but my vision was just beginning.
Yes, I have to go there. After I heard myself, I saw what I said. Wait a minute…this may be to deep for some. Let me explain myself more clearly. When I said, “make it happen”, it was a suggestion to the unknown woman (ram in the bush); but confirmation to me. You see, I’m always looking for ways to be a blessing to others. However, I’m also very analytical. I will analyze until I paralyze. In addition, I can be somewhat of a perfectionist and even a little anal. As a result, I often find myself standing still because I don’t have all the answers to the endless questions that tend to limit my understanding. Please tell me I’m making sense.
Nonetheless, in taking my own advice, I realize my family and I are “Entertainers”. We enjoy singing, dancing, joking, laughing, performing, writing, social gatherings, etc. With that being said, I talked with Jimmie and the girls and I’ve decided to host a “Talent Show Fundraiser” in our community. This charity event will help support The Ashe Foundation; a nonprofit organization dedicated to donating shoes to underprivileged children over in African nations.

Krista, I think that is a awesome idea. As my Apostle says Nothing changes if Nothing changes. Please keep me infomed, and keep up the good work.
Love, You
Delon: Thanks for the support. I’ll post an update for everyone as the fundraiser progresses. Nothing changes if nothing changes; I like that. I love you too!

This is an inspiring contribution to people/children in need. Thanks for letting others know how we may help. Keep up the blog. Congratulations on your 25th. Continue to extend and link the chain of wisdom and encouragement to all families whether single or whole.
M Green: Thanks for the congrats and words of encouragement. I can’t believe I’ve written 25 articles; looking forward to my next 25!
Sounds like a GREAT PLAN ( queen of planning) and with YOU in charge I know the outcome will be a VICTORIOUS one! Ironic you thought you were speaking the word to the lady when actually she was placed in your life to get your dream rolling. Hmmm… See how HE works. Keep us posted on the fundraiser
Karon: I will.
Anyone can make it happen!!!!!!!!!!!! They just have to try! What a great idea. Remember it is all about finding the middle and not to over analyze so we stay balanced!!!!!!!!!!!! Love ya, Tina
Tina: Thanks for your feedback. “Finding the middle”, I’ll keep that in mind as my new project progresses!
I still can not get over the coke bottle shoes. And to think…. who ever was wearing those were proud. It really makes you think. While we are over here”america” wanting name brand shoes and so forth, that person was so grateful for just being able to cover their feet. I think this is a great thing you are doing and you know you have my support!! (as always)!!
JayJay: A picture really is worth a thousand words. Thanks for your support. We all can do “something” to make a difference in someone else’s life. We just have to take the time to do it; fundraiser, act of kindness, donation, volunteer, sponsor, etc.
